How Animals View the World
Explanations and thoughts of what we see can be different but we all see same nature. Reflections of light enters in our eyes and eyes coverts that reflection into an image. We have 3 type of color detecting cells, called cones. Each cone contains a pigment which is sensitive of particular wavelength of light. Through these cones we are capable to see the colored world around us. But do all animals see the same world? No! There exists a difference in vision of animals. Let’s look into this:
Dog Vision
Dogs have only two type of color detecting cells. They can’t see red and orange color. And because dogs have fewer cones they can’t distinguish between as many colors as human can.
Garden Snail Vision
They can’t see color they would just be able to know the presence of another snail or predator. They are also capable to discern different intensities of light that help them to navigate toward dark places.
Snake
They see through thermal signatures that make them capable to see the heat of worm blooded animals.
Cows
They see the world in red orange colors. Because everyone seems to be bigger than usual cows never like someone suddenly approaching them.
Horses
There is a blind area remains in fronts of horses that they can’t see at all. This is because of their eye location. Their world is mostly made up of grey’s , yellows and blues.
Fish
They have UV receptors seeing the world in red, green and blue colors. Deep sea fish can easily see in dark. They can’t see the color but they can see the world in black and shining.
Birds
They have similar vision like human. They have capability to see the UV rays and also, they can see tiny things from a far distance. Species like Pigeon can see every fine detail of things they see from distance. We see the roads or blocks but they can visualize the cracks. Sparrow’s vision is mostly reddish.
Flies
Flies have thousands of individual receptors that collectively create a broad image. They see the world in slow motion. They also can see UV light. Bees can’t distinguish red color at all. Instead of red they see red things in blue.
Rats
Their surroundings are Pale blue and they see world in slow motion. Each eye is independent to see a different image.
Cats
Don’t distinguish red and green shades. Their world is made up of brown, yellow and blue shades. Their view is broader than as and can see the large information. In dark cats see 6 times better than us.
Frogs
Can detect only moving object. They can concentrate only on what they need.
